Ceòl Bho Thìr nan Craobh, a half-hour long programme produced by MNE Television, showcases some of the highlights from the tenth anniversary of the Celtic Colours Music Festival in 2006.
Singer Cathy Anne MacPhee, who now lives in Canada, was at the first Celtic Colours and admires the growth of this international event. 'I think they have got about right now ', she says taking a break from one of the many workshops she runs. 'People are generous with their time and their hospitality. They have old style island values and as a performer coming into their communities that is so important . 'Look at the fantastic scenery with the changing colours on the trees, hear the children singing Gaelic with such enthusiasm. That 's the magic of this festival and it's why I want to keep returning, she adds.
Joining Cathy Ann in the programme are singer Mairi MacInnes from South Uist, an artist in residence at the event in 2006; Mary Jane Lamond from Cape Breton, an internationally respected artist within the Celtic and world music genres; Catriona MacKay, a member of the leading Shetland band Fiddlers' Bid and voted Instrumentalist of the Year at this years Scottish Traditional Music Awards, Jeff MacDonald, a Gaelic singer and composer and one of Cape Breton's best tradition-bearers; acclaimed Canadian piper Matt MacIsaac from Sydney Nova Scotia; and the very talented Karine Polwart voted 'Best Scots Singer at the 2003 Scottish Traditional Music Awards
