Iain Uasal

This 30 minute Gaelic documentary will examine the life, achievements - and failures - of Sir Iain Noble, the Berlin born aristocrat of Scottish ancestry who helped to found a merchant bank, and also a Gaelic College in Skye.

Sir Iain has been a controversial figure for forty years, attracting praise for his support of Gaelic, as well as criticism for his insistence on Gaelic road signs, and his role in the Skye Road Bridge campaign. The documentary will question Sir Iain about the notoriety he attracted in his widely publicised speech on 'incomers.' Prominent persons from the Gaelic and business worlds will also discuss his life and achievements.

The programme was funded by Seirbheis nam Meadhanan Gaidhlig.
