Oran na Mna
As well as including some of the well known female Bards from the past such as Sileas MacDonald of Keppoch and Mairi Mhòr nan Òran we will aim to spotlight some of the modern day female writers such as Anna Frater, Meg Bateman, Catriona and Morag Montgomery. The series will feature some of the finest singers and musicians in Scotland and involve both traditional and original music, song and poetry, some of which would be commissioned especially for the programme. It will have strong themes throughout and put a spotlight on some of the finest female bards in the Gaelic tradition both contemporary and from centuries past. Apart from the excerpts withMaggie MacInnes from Programme 1, each programme will concentrate on one main singer giving their choice of song and poetry, although she will be joined by other singers on vocal, choruses and arrangements. A house band of six musicians will also accompany the singers.
